About Carrabelle
The natives of Carrabelle have long relied on the sea for their survival. Whether fishing for oysters and shrimp or fishing for fun, Carrabelle is a magnet for both fishermen and tourists. The Crooked River Lighthouse
Built to replace the Dog Lighthouse in the late 1800’s that a hurricane destroyed in 1873, Crooked River Lighthouse was finally decommissioned in 1995 and is no longer active. The 4th Order Fresnel was moved out because of leaking mercury. Electricity made its way to the lighthouse in 1933 and became fully automated in 1976. Beaches in and Around Carrabelle
A 20 minute drive from Carrabelle you will find Alligator Point Beach. No crowds along with Public facilities, it is a secluded peninsula that is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. Carrabelle Beach is found just 1 ½ miles from town which is perfect for swimming, sun-bathing or surf fishing. Public facilities are also available there.

Other Attractions
Ft. Gadsden State Park that was at one time the home of a British fort during the War of 1812. Boat rentals, picnic tables and areas for fishing can all be found at Ochlockonee State Park. There are more than 390 acres to explore and only a brief fifteen minutes from Carrabelle.
